June 14th referendum anyone?
We've heard Phil Hogan has a Machiavellian streak, but imagine if he was cunning to enough to stage this fiscal compact referendum smack in the middle of Euro 2012, say on a midweek matchday (or better the day after when the nation's hungover), when 30,000+ Irishmen and women are out of the country, and thus unable to vote. Imagine.
