Arsenal's Collapse Led To An Ian Wright Twitter Meltdown

Ah Jaysus, Arsenal.

The Gunners utterly capitulated in Bavaria, and are pretty much out of the Champions League after a risible 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich. It was 1-1 at half-time, but an injury to Laurent Koscielny was the moment of implosion, as Bayern ran in three goals in ten minutes. A late goal by Thomas Muller, who capitalised on a hideous error by Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, equalled Arsenal's worst-ever European result: also a 5-1 defeat away to Bayern. Alexis was decent, and aside from that, Arsenal were awful, as Mesut Ozil flitted around the edges in obscurity.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright watched the game, and found an outlet for his ever-increasing anguish: twitter. Wright live-tweeted his reactions, and it now reads as a chronicle of the descent into Arsenal's uniquely familiar Heart of Darkness.

It starts badly, as Coquelin allows Arjen Robben to cut inside and curl into the top corner with his left foot.

But then, HOPE. Koscielny wins a penalty...

...but Alexis misses...

...but he rifles home the rebound, at the second attempt.

Arsenal then created a couple of chances, and Wright pulled out the No Great Shakes card:

Then the second-half began, and Lewandowski took to the skies to put Bayern ahead:

2-1 then became 3-1....

....and that soon became 4-1...

Arsenal then stopped the bleeding for a while, and gave Wright hope of at least clinging on for a result which made the second leg reasonably worthwhile:

And then: 5-1.

Poor Ian.

It is not looking good for Wenger.
