Player apologies after a poor result for Manchester United are an almost weekly occurrence at this point. That was once again the case after their Champions League exit at the hands of Atletico Madrid in midweek, although Marcus Rashford felt compelled to issue a different sort of apology.
Footage circled on social media of the forward confronting some of the club's supporters who had taken their frustration on him out after the game.
While he said the clip was taken out of context, he did still apologise on social media yesterday.

However, not all were convinced that he needed to do so.
Ian Wright defends Marcus Rashford after Atletico video
Taking to his own Twitter account earlier today, Ian Wright said that Rashford had absolutely no need to back down from what he said to the fans on this occasion.

Someone just sent me the Marcus Rashford video where he confronted the fans, because the fans were digging him out and he offered one of them out.
I don't know who is doing this apologising for him. What the fuck is he apologising for that one for?
These people are quick to say 'I'm so sorry', that's what gives these fans the ground to dig people out. Marcus, stand your ground bro.
You've got these people jumping on 'Marcus is so sorry'. Don't be fucking sorry for that bro. Some of them fans love giving it and can't take it man.
You just do your stuff and get back to where you need to be in your playing. Fuck them fans bro!
It certainly seems that the atmosphere at Old Trafford is becoming increasingly toxic, something that is being taken out on the players.
Harry Maguire was booed off the pitch when substituted in the Atletico game and they were not the only jeers head on the night.
Now out of contention for trophies, Manchester United will need to achieve a top four finish to salvage what has been a disastrous campaign.
