If one Iago felt unfairly overlooked for a promotion, another seems to be line for an undeserved one.
Iago Aspas - he of the feeble corners - is being linked with a move to Real Madrid as the club seek to shore up some cover for Cristiano Ronaldo. Aspas, in fairness, has been in fantastic form for Celta Vigo in La Liga since joining from Liverpool via a loan spell at Sevilla. He has netted a league goal every second game, a scoring return rewarded with a call-up to the Spain squad. Aspas played second fiddle to Diego Costa in Russia, although scored in the group win over Morocco.
Madrid haven't really replaced Ronaldo at all yet, as you get the feeling they are waiting to see how the FFP sanctions play out at PSG, and whether the Parisien club will be forced to surrender either Kylian Mbappé or Neymar Ltd.
In the interim, it seems Los Blancos have trained their sights on Aspas with reports in Spain claiming the club ae considering bidding £36 million for the striker. Reports also link the club with Valencia's Rodrigo.
Elsewhere, Manchester City are being linked with Madrid's Keylor Navas as emergency cover for Claudio Bravo, who will miss the rest of the season through injury.
The Mirror claim that PSG want to sign Danny Rose and Ivan Rakitic, and Loris Karius' move to Besiktas has been delayed by public holidays in Turkey but is expected to go through before the transfer window closes.
