Much of the magic of the FA Cup comes from acts of great incompetence being captured on terrestrial television: see Darren Bent's stunning own goal against Leicester City on Friday night.
Bent, in fairness, was given a shot at redemption and he seized it: levelling the game with a goal fifteen minutes later. Such redemption was also afforded to Hull City's Abel Hernandez against Fulham today, but somehow contrived to snatch humiliation from the jaws of reprieve.
Hull were hammered 4-1 by Championship side Fulham, although Hernandez had the chance to keep Hull in the game late on, when he was awarded a penalty. He took it, only to see his effort saved by Fulham 'keeper Marcus Bettinelli. He followed his initial effort in, however, only to be tripped by Bettinelli. The referee awarded a second penalty, and again Hernandez took it. Remarkably, the result was the same.
Watch it below:
Hull City's official twitter account was a sight to behold:

Ridiculous. We're pretty sure Abel Hernandez is the first entry into the 'Hull player misses two penalties in a minute' corner of the Cup's history books.
