Paul McShane is an interesting figure. His time in an Ireland jersey have turned him into something of a marmite figure on this side of the Irish Sea. Some fans refuse to believe that the Wicklow man was good enough to play for Ireland, others accept that he is not only a bit of a cult hero but is actually a more than adequate defender.
McShane's absence from the international scene has only furthered the argument over his inclusion. He was playing regularly in the Premier League during a year in which Ireland were in dire need of defenders. And if Hull fans are to be believed, he was/is easily good enough.
Following Hull's relegation from the Premier League, the club released a number of players today, among them, McShane. The reaction from Hull fans is very telling indeed.
@HullCity is this a fucking joke?

@HullCity why would you release someone who had been playing well week in week out in the PL...and keep someone who couldn't get in the side

Being 100% honest, I'm more upset about McShane leaving than us being relegated

That just sums it up then. We'll look forward to seeing Paul McShane back in the Premier League sooner rather than later.
