While Liverpool's main man this year has undoubtedly been Mo Salah, the brilliant performances by Roberto Firmino had led to some suggestions Liverpool faced a fight to keep their Brazilian striker this summer. However today Firmino signed a new deal with the club committing his long-term future to the reds.
Over 140 appearances Firmino has landed 50 goals for the club including a double last week against Roma. He told Liverpool FC TV he was delighted to commit to the club.
It was an easy decision. The club have taken me in in an incredible way and I’ve grown a lot here with my work with the support of the whole team. I am very, very happy here. Everything fits in the best possible way. My teammates are fantastic and I am very grateful to be able to play with them at this club.
I love to play for Liverpool FC. The fans are excellent and fantastic in how they support us all the way. They support us throughout the games and the work they do during the match is beautiful.
Attention now turns to a Champions League semi-final and securing top four for Firmino, with a World Cup campaign for Brazil on the horizon after that.
