When Huddersfield Town released their new home kit earlier this week, complete with a massive Paddy Power sash logo, we smelt a rat. Indeed, many people smelt the same rat. This had all the hallmarks of a Paddy Power publicity stunt.
Well, Paddy, we hope you're happy. We've fallen for it hook, line and sinker. This morning, Huddersfield have unveiled their actual new kit and it's the complete opposite of the original design, with no sponsor logo on the shirt at all. Paddy Power are coining it the #SaveOurShirt campaign, where they are championing the absence of sponsor logos from a team's kit.
The ad that has accompanied the unveiling is pretty great in fairness.
The away kit, in particular, is rather fetching.
🙌 Here it is!
👕 #htafc can today reveal the ACTUAL @UmbroUK home kit!
😁 The shirt is part of @paddypower's new #SaveOurShirt campaign; an initiative that is backing a move towards unbranded football kits, effectively returning the shirt back to the fans.

Whether or not the #SaveOurShirt campaign catches on, remains to be seen but they are of course not the first in recent memory to opt for no shirt sponsorship, with Limerick GAA having no 'Sporting Limerick' logo on their jerseys this year, despite the continued backing of JP McManus. However, I'm not sure if the people of Huddersfield are aware of that one.
