Match Preview

Stephen Kenny's men had a great start to 2022 on Saturday as a late Alan Browne goal gave them a 2-2 draw with World Number 1 Belgium at the Aviva Stadium. Belgium may have fielded a second string side but Ireland were still outstanding and everything seems to be clicking now under Stephen Kenny.

One player who shone on Saturday was Chiedozie Ogbene. The Rotherham winger has been a breath of fresh air under Kenny and his goal in the first half helped him on his way to the man of the match award.

Lithuania are currently ranked 137 in the world and they had a win in their last game on Friday night against San Marino. They won 2-1 but the goal from San Marino will be what's remembered from this game as they are a rarity for the minnows.

Lithuania don't have too many stars but like Ireland they have a couple of exciting youth prospects. Defenders Benas Satkus from FC Nuremburg and Edgaras Utkus from Cercle Brugge are both under 21 and are starting to become regular starters for Lithuania.

They certainly aren't the daunting task Belgium were but this game is a chance for Kenny to test his players and give more experience to the younger players ahead of the Nations League this summer.
