A Horribly Unlucky, 95th Minute, Double Ricochet Own Goal From League Two

Oxford United shot their playoff chances squarely in the foot against Dagenham and Redbridge at the weekend, when a speculative effort from Daggers' Luke Howell took a bizarre double deflection off two Oxford defenders before looping into the back of the net. All in the 95th minute of the game.

Incredibly, there remains some confusion as to who should be credited with the goal. Both LiveScore and the BBC gave it to Howell - presumably because the original shot was deemed to be on target. However the Beeb couldn't entirely make their minds up, as Bevans is down as the OG scorer in the main score graphic, but Howell is down as having scored a "last-gasp winner" in the first line of the article. Even stranger, ESPN say the game ended 0-0, before crediting Howell with the goal.

Personally, I consider it to be a fairly obvious own goal regardless of the accuracy of Howell's shot, as the original effort was well blocked.
