Pepe Reina is the star of new comedy 'Invictus' directed by Oscar nominated Spanish director Javier Fesser.
The Liverpool goalkeeper plays a slow-witted Roman centurion out to prevent Julius Caesar's assassination with the help of his short-sighted brother-in-law. The short film lasts 16 minutes and Reina was standout performer according to producer Luis Manso
“He exceeded all our expectations and was constantly offering suggestions to actors, directors and producers alike.
“I've worked with a few sportsmen and plenty of celebrities but I've never met anyone so professional.
“If, when he hangs up his gloves, he wants to work with less hard working, serious and talented actors than him, he should give me a call!
“Most of Spanish cinema is saying Pepe is a star in the making.”.
The first part of the film is below and shows Reina being peppered with rocks by hostile bystanders as he rides on his horse along a country road.
