Rangers and Hibs go into the new season as favourites and second favourites respectively for the Scottish Championship title.
The Old Firm club's plan to strengthen their squad as they aim for promotion includes the targeting of a Hibs player - Scott Allan. This pursuit of Allan led to the player today handing in a transfer request.
Understandably, Hibs do not want to sell the player and so strengthen a major rival.
The Edinburgh club released a statement this evening regarding Allan and Rangers' advances. It reiterates their stance on the matter, and puts in bold - just in case anyone at Ibrox misses it - that "The player will not be sold to Rangers".
In the face of continued media interest, Hibernian Football Club can confirm that Scott Allan has today handed in a written transfer request.
This comes on the back of two unwelcome and uninvited approaches from Rangers FC regarding Scott, the first for £175,000 and the second for £225,000.
Hibernian FC has refused both bids because the Club has no wish to transfer a valuable player to strengthen a major rival in the battle to win the Championship and gain promotion to the Premiership.
Hibernian’s position has not changed. The player will not be sold to Rangers.
