Everton fans have been (quite rightly) running out of patience with manager Roberto Martinez as Everton's season has slowly but surely capitulated in terms of league form, with a late FA Cup run presumably the only thing keeping him in a job at this moment in time (you read that last part like Kenny Cunningham, didn't you?).
On paper, Everton have a very strong lineup, and at times they have played some marvellous football this season, but defensively the Toffees are a disaster and find themselves justifiably in 12th place.
Roberto Martinez's post-match comments in particular pissed former Blackburn and Chelsea striker Chris Sutton off, as he labbelled the Spaniard's opinion that Everton controlled the game a "pile of nonsense":
"Everton being below West Brom in the table is quite frankly, disastrous"

He just comes out and talks a pile of nonsense really, doesn't he?
He talks about a game which nobody else sees. This is an Everton side who didn't create any chances, and he comes out, you know, "We controlled the tempo"... I mean, is he mad? He's not watching the same game as everybody else, and I think that's what the frustration is with the fans. I'm not calling him dishonest, I just don't understand what he sees.
Most Manchester United fans would admit that their side did not perform very well on Sunday, but they earned all three points as Everton offered little aside from Phil Jagielka's header that hit the crossbar in terms of a response to Anthony Martial's second-half goal.
It will be interesting to see how the end of Everton's season will impact the future of Martinez.
