Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has surprisingly had his say on the sacking of his successor Andre Villas Boas at the North London club. Speaking at his weekly press conference at current club QPR, Redknapp absolved Tottenham of any blame and instead blamed AVB or that sporting director for signing all those players;
"You can't blame the club, with the amount of money they've spent on players.
"Unfortunately [Villas-Boas] bought a lot of players in that haven't improved the team.
"Whether he bought them or the sporting director (Franco Baldini) did, who knows what goes on. They haven't improved the team enough. But they still have enough quality to finish in the top four."
Redknapp says here that the players bought over the summer haven't improved the club enough (an opinion formed over three whole months) yet then suggests that they have enough quality. A contradiction that's totally out of character.
Harry didn't stop there though, when asked who should replace AVB at Spurs he was very concerned with nationality;
"If (Sherwood) had a foreign name or a more sexy name perhaps he might get that job.
"I hope they don't think they've got to get someone who's Italian or Dutch or French or whatever. Let's hope Tim can get the job."
Ah the Sam Allderci condition.
