After a promising spell in charge of Crawley Town, Harry Kewell oversaw his first league game with Notts County this afternoon. Safe to say, he won't look back on it with much fondness.
Making the trip to Exeter in the hopes of securing their first win in League Two this season, Kewell's side shipped a 5-1 defeat and remain rock bottom of the football league.
More frustrating still, the former Liverpool and Leeds United man found himself sent to the stands for his protests regarding Exeter's fourth goal of the afternoon.
You can watch the goal in question followed by Kewell's sending-off below.
Having spent over ten years of his playing-career with Leeds United and Liverpool in the Premier League, Kewell has proved promising as he takes his tentative steps into football management.
Taking the Crawley job in May 2017, a season with the club preempted his recent move to Notts County where he replaced former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United midfielder, Kevin Nolan.
Speaking with The Guardian ahead of today's game with Exeter, Kewell explained the high plans he hopes to impart at the struggling League Two club.
It’s a great opportunity to be able to stamp my authority down on to the players and get them playing the right way. These players want to play. We even had a few of them come and say: ‘It was a breath of fresh air to be able to sit there and have that confidence again.’ If we can have time, then we’ll be able to put things right and get things moving.
