Ryan Giggs, the man who just keeps on giving turns 39 today. Giggs who has played with Manchester United for his entire career is the most decorated player in English football history.
Giggs made his first appearance for United in the 1990-91 season and became a regular in the team soon after. Here are just a few of his greatest achievements in the game:
- 12 time Premier League winner (only United player to have a medal from each of their Premier League titles)
- 4 Time FA Cup & 2 Time Champions League winner
- 2 Time Young Player of the year
- Most Premier League appearances for a player (602 and counting)
- Included in the PFA Team of the Century
- Only player to have played and scored in every Premier League season
- Awarded an OBE for his contribution to football.
Giggs made 64 appearances for his country (Wales) and has always been regarded as one of the greatest players ever to have not played in in the World Cup. The goal that he will undoubtedly be remembered for is the one in the 1999 FA Cup semi final against Arsenal at Villa Park. You know the one:
Although not used regularly these days, Giggs is still an important player in the current Man United team. He has played 9 times already this season. Over the last few years, he was been shifted to a more central role and has shown that he is still capable of that killer final ball.
