Gus Poyet has reiterated his interest in succeeding Stephen Kenny and becoming the next Ireland manager. The Uruguayan says his time as manager of Greece will end after the Euro 2024 playoffs in March, even if his side qualifies for the finals in Germany.
Poyet led Greece to two victories over Ireland in their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. Following October's 2-0 win over Kenny's side in Dublin, Poyet expressed his admiration for the home supporters at the Aviva Stadium, adding that he would "absolutely love" to be in charge of the Irish team.
Kenny's time as Ireland boss is set to end following the friendly against New Zealand later this month.
"If you talk too much, they blame you but I'm trying to be honest," Poyet told Livescore.

"My contract finishes in March. So, finish the [Euro 2024] play-off games and it's over. It doesn't matter if I qualify or not because there is no extension.
"We used to say when you're a football player, six months left on your contract and you can start looking for a job.
"Now, that is a possibility that they [Ireland] will like me, that they will contact me. That's a different matter.
"I congratulated them because the atmosphere was spectacular. They made us play at a better level. It was a pleasure. The future will tell."
Regarding the Irish supporters, Poyet added:
"We left the hotel previous to the game and all the way there, everybody was with the black tracksuit. It was amazing. And if not, green, obviously.
"So, to go to that game knowing it was practically impossible for them to qualify and to have that support... Me, as a football person, I love it."
