Manchester City responded to defeat at Anfield by clinging on for a win at home to Burnley. Fernandinho was sent off after half an hour - his third red card in six games - but City eventually saw out a 2-1 win. Gael Clichy and Sergio Aguero put them up 2-0, before Ben Mee made it a nervous finish, scoring following an enormous scramble in the City penalty area. Claudio Bravo was badly caught out on that goal, contriving to drop the ball twice under pressure in the penalty area before Mee nudged the ball over the line.

Despite victory, Pep Guardiola was in very odd form after the game, giving an exceptionally tense interview to the BBC which will add even more fuel to the near-existential arguments surrounding How Pep Adapts To England.

Guardiola said that he must understand that the pressure on Bravo from the corner that led to the goal is not a foul in England, despite the fact it would be in virtually every other country. He was in ridiculously spiky form, with the interview culminating in the interviewer asking "You don't seem happy that you've won?".

Weirdly, in a later interview, Guardiola talked of his coaching career coming to an end:

While Pep will eventually crack England, at the moment, it seems like it is cracking him.
