It's always nice when to see one of our own play in the top flight of English football and according to reports we may well have another Irish interest in the Premier League in Greg Cunningham.
The Lancashire Post are reporting that Preston North End defender Greg Cunningham is on his way to Cardiff City, with the 27-year-old having already underwent a medical with the Welsh club and agreed personal terms ahead of a transfer rumoured to be in the region of £4 million.
It is not the first time that Cardiff have shown an interest in Cunningham, with the club bidding £2 million for the defender in August of last year, but a deal was scuppered after the left-back suffered a hamstring injury that would keep him sidelined until Christmas.
Cunningham has a year left on his contract at Preston and Preston North End can have no qualms with letting the defender move on, having signed him on a free transfer from Bristol City in July 2015.
Cardiff won automatic promotion to the Premier League by finishing second in the Championship, under the guidance of Neil Warnock who was named EFL Championship manager of the season for winning promotion to the Premier League with the Bluebirds.
Should Cunningham complete the move he will be joining other Irish players Anthony Pilkington and Brian Doyle in the Cardiff City squad.
