Cardiff City are reportedly interested in signing Ireland international Greg Cunningham from Preston North End.
The 27-year-old played 20 games for Preston in the Championship last season. It was one disrupted by a knee injury which he picked up in August and kept him out of action until late December.
A move to Cardiff would elevate Cunningham to Premier League status. Under Neil Warnock, the Welsh side won automatic promotion last season.
According to BBC, Warnock is looking to make the left-back - who he tried to sign last year - his first acquisition since promotion. The Galwayman has a year left on his contract at Deepdale.
Cunningham featured last month for an Ireland XI in Scott Brown's testimonial against Celtic but was an unused substitute for the friendlies against France and USA.
Cardiff's interest in another Ireland international is said to have "cooled". Warnock was also interested in signing James McClean from relegated West Brom. However, Cardiff are refusing to break their wage budget to sign the Derry winger.
West Brom's fellow relegated Stoke have also reportedly been keen to sign McClean. According to the Stoke Sentinel, West Brom have told the club to match their £6 million valuation of McClean after having a £4 million bid turned down.
