Derry City have revealed their brand new Adidas kit and not only is it quite striking to the eye, it keeps the classy tribute to their late former captain Ryan McBride, who tragically passed away aged 27 last March.
The jersey was officially unveiled Thursday night at an event in The City Hotel in Derry and is the Candy Stripes first strip under their new deal with Adidas (having previously been sponsored by Hummel) and upon the public reveal of the jersey on their Twitter account you can see the "McBride 5" tribute crest is still being proudly worn front and centre.
Derry City, who finished fourth in the SSE Airtricity Premier league last year, will begin this season's league campaign away to newly promoted (And SSE Airtricity Division One Champions) Waterford FC at the Regional Sports Centre in Waterford City on Friday February 16th. Their first home game of the season comes a week later when they host Sligo Rovers at the Brandywell.

The former Derry City captain, Ryan McBride, heartbreakingly passed away suddenly last March in the middle of the Airtricity Premier League season at the age of 27. McBride told his father he was "going for a lie down" and his father found him dead in his room when he went to check on him.
The opening weekend's fixtures to the 2018 SSE Airtricity Premier League sees the current Premier Division Champions and Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup holders Cork City head to St. Patrick’s Athletic with last season’s runners-up Dundalk set to face Bray Wanderers. Of course Derry City travel to Waterford FC and elsewhere Sligo Rovers will host Limerick at the Showgrounds.
All games will kick off at 7.45pm.
