Good news for United fans this morning, with David De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes saying that he has opened negotiations with the club over a contract extension. The 24-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to Real Madrid but Mendes' comments, made on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, make for good reading for fans of the Old Trafford club.

While a move to Madrid may simply be delayed by such a move, at least it would ensure United will receive would be a sizable transfer fee for the Spaniard.
