Atletico Madrid are UEFA Super Cup champions after beating Real Madrid 4-2 after extra time. An entertaining contest first burst into life in the first minute, Diego Costa firing home from a tight angle.

Real took the lead with a Sergio Ramos penalty in the second half, after Juanfran handled the ball in the box, but Costa would come up trumps again in the 79th minute finishing from close range from a Correa pull back:

With the scores 2-2 after 90 minutes the game went to extra time, and it took two beautifully crafted goals to give Diego Simeone's men the win over their crosstown rivals.

Saul Niguez got the first goal in additional time and it was a beauty, the midfielder volleying  a strike to the roof of the net from the edge of the box after a cut back from Thomas Partey:

The two strikes in added time capped a very clinical performance for last season's Europa League winners, with Julen Lopetegui starting his first competitive game in charge of Real Madrid with a loss.
