The curtain has been raised on the new season and, as is usually the case, the Community Shield was played at a rather leisurely pace. Man City spent much of the first half with plenty of the ball but without looking particularly dangerous. Arsenal, on the other hand, looked effective on the break and broke the deadlock through a well taken Santi Cazorla strike after 21 minutes, before Aaron Ramsey picked up where he left off last season with the second goal of the game.
Olivier Giroud completed the scoring mid-way through the second half with a stunning strike that City's new keeper Willy Caballero could do nothing about.
