Ireland limbered up for the start of the European qualifiers with a 2-0 win over Oman at a sparsely populated Aviva stadium on Wednesday. The only real highlight of the first half came just before the 20th minute, when Kevin Doyle headed past Ali Al Habsi in the Oman goal.
The introduction of some of Ireland's more experienced campaigners in the second half brought about some better action, with Aidan McGeady and Robbie Keane going close.
Ireland eventually added a second in the 81st minute when Alex Pearce grabbed his second international goal against Oman with some nifty footwork inside the box.
