The FAI Cup final between Drogheda and Sligo ended in spectacular fashion today with Sligo eventually winning 3-2 following an action-filled eight minutes of injury time.

Sligo took a controversial 2-1 lead through eventual man of the match Danny North. Joseph N'Do lifted a free kick over the Drogheda wall for North to volley home. Drogheda players were not happy however as the referee did not appear to blow his whistle to signal that the kick could be taken.

The referee, Paul Tuite, was not interested in the Louth side's protests, sending off captain Derek Prendergast as players gathered around him near the halfway line.
