CFR Cluj took a surprise lead in the 14th minute after a sublime pass sent Modou Sougou free down the right hand side. Kapetanos applied a cool finish to Sougou's cross.
Man Utd hit back in the 29th Minute when Cluj conceded a free kick on the left hand side of the field. Wayne Rooney swung in the cross for Robin van Persie to loop over the Cluj goalkeeper off his shoulder.
The Rooney - van Persie combination worked it's magic again for the Man Utd winner in the 49th minute. Rooney lofted a brilliant pass over the Cluj defence for van Persie to apply a subtle finish.
