Alexander Kolarov opened the scoring for Man City with a cracking free kick after only 5 minutes.
It remained 1-0 until the 60th minute when David Silva put Kolarov free down the left to put in an excellent cross with Sergio Aguero to applying the finish.
James Milner made it 3-0 in the 89th minute after his free kick too a slight deflection off the head of Craig Gardner and went straight though Simon Mignolet.
Jack Colback and Yaya Toure tangled on the edge. Toure went down, attempted to get up but then went down again with some mystery affliction.
