He was substituted late in extra time and then sat with his back to goal as his side contested their third AFCON final shootout of recent years.
The former Arsenal player sitting in that position did result in a moment of magic though as he conjured up the CAF logo from his hands.
A bit like the time Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen combined to spawn the Sky Sport goal graphic.
