Steven Gerrard has paid tribute to his close friend Robbie Keane after it emerged that Ireland's record scorer will follow him in departing LA Galaxy this winter.
Gerrard and Keane have been pals since their time at Liverpool, and their much sought-after footballing bromance has blossomed beneath the Hollywood hills during two seasons at Galaxy.
Keane penned an open letter to the club's fans last night, thanking them for their support throughout his five-season run, and Gerrard has now essentially penned one to Keane as the pair go their separate ways once more.
Describing Keane as the best player in MLS history, Gerrard wrote on Instagram:
I wish you and your lovely family all the best in your new adventure. It's been a pleasure to play alongside you for the last few years but more importantly you have had my back and became a great friend. All the best mate.
Some nice words and sentiments from Keane's former captain at Liverpool, about his captain at Galaxy. And so comes to an end a beautiful tale of football friendship...Or does it?
