Germany exited the World Cup with a whimper on Wednesday, playing slow motion football against a South Korea side they would have beaten in a slumber four years ago.

The surprise their early exit would have been viewed as pre-tournament had dissipated after three games considering how poor they had been against Mexico and that they had only been in with a chance of progressing to the knockout stages thanks to a moment of sheer brilliance from Toni Kroos against Sweden.

Four years ago in Brazil is what Bild was thinking of with their headline following the elimination. 'Speechless' is the same caption they had following the 7-1 win against Brazil in Belo Horizonte. There is a very different context to this edition's lack of words.

Rheinische Post has gone for the simple: "Out".

Der Tagesspiegel has the same headline

Similarly, for Die Welt, it is "Over And Out".

Der Spiegel has labelled Germany's exit, "A historic disgrace".

Online, they described the team as being, "Lethargic, without ideas, careless".
