Return of 'The King'. And indeed he joins another one in manager 'King' Billy Cronin.
The Junior Soccer Portal is reporting that Cork City legend George O'Callaghan has returned from the relative abyss and laced up the boots once more to play for Roy Keane's boyhood club, Rockmount.
The 37-year-old has signed for the Munster Senior League club until the end of the season, with Rockmount currently second from bottom in the table.
The League of Ireland icon scored over 30 goals in three spells at Cork City, scoring on his City debut versus Shels in a 3-0 victory in 2002 - this following his inaugural spell in English football with Port Vale.
His League of Ireland 2005 Player Of The Year award was the individual highlight in a two-year spell which saw City go on a remarkable Intertoto Cup run and pick up a league title, although playing Jay-Jay Okocha off the park in a pre-season friendly vs Bolton at Turners Cross in that same period must surely be right up there.
A cousin of former Munster and Ireland rugby player Donnacha O'Callaghan, the enigmatic attacking midfielder was last seen playing at Dover Athletic in 2012 - this following a spell in Brunei. He went on to manage Sabah in the Malaysia Premier League in 2014, before being sacked in January of the following year when he started missing training sessions.
He'll now be available to play for Rockmount from January onwards.
Here's a 10-year-old Youtube video dedicated to his greatness, set to one of the worst songs we've ever heard:
The best comment, left under the above video nine years ago, reads:
