The South Korean women's football league has been threatened with a boycott by six of it's seven clubs if the top scorer from last season does not take a gender test.
Seoul City finished second in the WK-League during the 2013 season with striker Park Eun-Seon scoring 19 goals in 22 games. Now rival coaches have asked the Korea Women's Football Federation to bar Park from playing until she passes a gender test.
Park represented her country at the 2003 World Cup, 2004 Olympics and 2005 Asian Games and commented on her Facebook page (via the BBC)
"I have gone through the gender examination thing several times. I did it in a World Cup, in an Olympics and in several others and there were no problems," she added.
"I've worked so hard to get to this point, and I will not give up easily. I know what these people are trying to do, and I won't fall down."
The controversy has led to one of the six coaches who requested the gender test resigning, although he claimed that their motives had been misunderstood and that they were in fact joking.
