On a Rangers night out during the 90s, Paul Gascoigne had an encounter with Van Morrison.
After the singer told a companion of Gascoigne's that he had a "stupid name", the England midfielder responded in kind.
"We used to go to the Thistle in Glasgow for all the Player of the Year gigs," former Rangers and Scotland goalkeeper Andy Goram told The Football Daft podcast when asked for a Gazza story he'd never told before.
"In those days you’d struggle to get the players out of that place. Nowadays the players are first to leave.
"But we’d be there until four or five in the morning. We were sat there one Sunday morning and it was only us at the bar.
"There’s me, (Ally) McCoist, (Brian) Laudrup and Gazza, a boy called Kirk Hunter who was captain of the Crusaders over in Belfast, his brother Titch, a boy called Billy White, and his pal was called Broach. We've had a right good bevvy.

"In walks this boy, and I’m like ‘I know him’, and it was Van Morrison, the singer. He’d been in concert that night.
"So I’m going over to him and said ‘Come and meet the boys: Ally McCoist, Brian Laudrup, Paul Gascoigne, this is Kirk Hunter, captain of the Crusaders, his brother Titch, this is Billy White, and this is Broach'.
"And Van Morrison looked at Broach and went 'Broach? That’s a stupid name'.
"Gazza stood up and went: 'Oh, and Van fucking isn't?'"
