Ever since migrating to Sky Sports Gary Neville has been forced to confront the fact Man United aren't nearly as good as they once were, all the while their greatest rivals Man City (and to a much lesser extent) Liverpool have flirted with being really rather good.
Back in 2014, when it became clear that either City or Liverpool would win the league, Neville remarked on Monday Night Football that "it's like having a choice of two blokes to nick your wife".
Now, with City having run away with the league and Liverpool a game away from being crowned European Champions, Neville has said that he may have to organise an escape route from England if Liverpool get over the line in Kiev.
Neville told the Telegraph that it would mark "the season from hell".
Oh no, make no mistake about it, this could be the season from hell.
I mean, Manchester City have won the title, they’ve won two trophies. If Liverpool now win the European Cup and Chelsea beat United in the FA Cup final, to be honest I might go travelling for a year to somewhere where there’s no Wi-Fi or phone signal.
Actually, there might be a few million United fans joining me. What date’s the Champions League final? May 26th?
We’ve all got a charter booked for the 27th of May. There will be a million flights booked out of Manchester to the forests of the Amazon. We’re out of here, we’re gone.
I mean Liverpool have done brilliantly to get to a Champions League final. I just don’t want them to win it!
The full interview is worth a whirl. It's on the Telegraph's website.
