Romelu Lukaku encouraged Marcus Rashford when the 21-year-old stepped forward and said that he wanted to take the first penalty of his career for Manchester United.
Barely a more vital, eyes-of-the-world-on-you penalty it could have been too with the clock in injury time and victory on the line at the end of a Champions League last-16 second leg tie against PSG.
"I was happy that he scored," Lukaku said in an interview with Gary Neville on beIN Sports.
He came to me and he wanted to shoot, I said 'Man, this is your time. Do it for yourself and do it us' and he did it. I'm really happy.
"Belief, man. Character," was the Belgian's response when asked by Neville what had just happened on the Parc des Princes pitch. "I think I was confident two days before the game when the manager said that we would be playing in a front two with Marcus."
He also praised what manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done for him and the team.
"When I came back in, for me, personally, he had a plan: he wanted me to be really sharp in three or four weeks. That's what happened.
"For the team, he made us play offensive football; he gives the young players confidence. Sometimes he's tough but also, at the right time, he knows when to give a compliment.
"In training we do a lot of small games, a lot of focus on the offensive part of the game. That's what the players like."
Lukaku believes that Solskjaer will get the Old Trafford job on a permanent basis.
"I think it's been decided. He's going to get it, he should get it.
"Look at the games that we've played. Everybody was talking after the first four games because we played, with all respect, against lesser opposition but then we won at Tottenham away, Chelsea away and then Arsenal in the FA Cup and then this game today - what else doe he have to do?"
