Bury Football Club are in some pretty dire straits both on and off the pitch at the moment. The club has been relegated to League Two and is also in a bad situation financially.
The situation was so bad that back in January, Gary Neville had to step in to help pay the wages at his hometown club.
From The Manchester Evening News:
After Saturday's 1-1 draw away at Walsall, manager Kevin Blackwell said: “I've tried to take as much pressure off the players as possible, but the likes of the PFA and Gary Neville have helped pay their wages.
“The club is right on the edge. The situation is probably the most dire I've ever seen.”
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor told M.E.N. Sport that the news about Gary's involvement didn't come as a surprise.
“It is massive that a club like Bury have people like this. The Neville family have been an integral part of the club for a number of years now,” he said.
“That is typical of Gary ’s character – I wasn’t surprised to hear that about him.
Respect has grown enormously for Neville due to his analyst role on for Sky, mainly on Monday Night Football. That respect is sure to grow further following this news.
