Gary Neville has a way with words, and he has provided a real gem while discussing his former team-mate and current Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick.

Speaking to Manchester United fan-site Stretty News, Neville was grilled on a number of subjects such as how he deals with accusations of bias, and Manchester United's current defensive situation, but when the discussion turned to his favourite Manchester United players to watch live, the Sky analyst had this to say:

Scholes and Carrick together was peaceful. It was like going into a bar and hearing a piano playing. It’s relaxing. Listening to some good rock is good and you like that too but sometimes it’s nice to listen to a piano. Carrick’s a piano. There you go, there’s your line.

There we go. Michael Carrick is a piano.

Possibly the best football-related inanimate object metaphor since Papa Bouba Diop was referred to as "The Wardrobe".
