It's safe to say that Michael Owen's BT Sports commentary isn't universally loved. The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker adopts an elevator music tone and tends to state the glaringly obvious when asked to describe anything. So the Paddy Power twitter account had a gentle dig:
Every now and again you're just watching the game and think......
Michael Owen what the f*ck are you on about??

To which Gary Lineker, custodian of Match Of The Day and a man who's had to listen to Alan Shearer for an awfully long time leapt to Owen's defence:
@paddypower Every now and again you look at Twitter and think show some f**king respect!
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) December 28, 2014
And well, it all went a bit Michael Owen:
@GaryLineker Because he had a decent football career I can't pass comment on his work in the commentary box? Get down from that Ivory Tower!

@paddypower Get you! You dish it out then get all uppity when you get a bit in your direction. Bless!

@GaryLineker Think you've missed the point here Gaz. pic.twitter.com/NsIOh2Exl4

@paddypower Such originality! And you put Michael Owen away for being bland.
