After a months long farewell, the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool finally came to an end yesterday after the 2-0 victory over Wolves at Anfield.

It was not quite the fairytale ending that the club's supporters would have hoped for, with the team's recent slip in form ensuring that there would be no Premier League or Europa League title win. Despite this, there was a party atmosphere in the stadium as they bid adieu to the club's most beloved manager of the modern era.

Arne Slot will take over Liverpool for next season, with Jurgen Klopp already wishing the Dutchman all the best despite there being no official announcement on the appointment as of yet.

As for the German, it remains to be seen what his next move will be. Klopp has insisted that he will take some time out following his exit from Liverpool, with the fatigue of the last few seasons the reason he ultimately decided to step aside.

In saying that, he will be back in football at some point in the future. He said as much yesterday, although he said the role might not in management.

I will work. I have just finished this job. I don’t know exactly why nobody believes I will probably not be a manager again, but I understand because obviously it seems to be a drug.

It looks like that as everybody comes back and everybody works until they are 70-something. I have always had the idea I won’t do that. Other people are smarter and do it in different ways, but I have to be all-in.

I have to be the spark, I have to be the energiser, I have to be all these kind of things. And I am empty. That’s it.

One rumour has been circulating as to what that position might be.

Gary Lineker shares rumour on next Jurgen Klopp job

Liverpool is not the only team that Jurgen Klopp holds a special relationship, with the 56-year old also viewed as a club legend at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.

He could even end up back at one of those sides in the near future.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker said he had heard rumblings that Jurgen Klopp's next role in football could be as club president at Borussia Dortmund.

I will be interested to see what Jurgen Klopp does next. I think he will definitely take some time out because I think he’s genuine when he says he has run out of energy.

You can see why that job is so demanding. There will be a battle for him in a year’s time. Or they’ll be lining up for a year or so’s time. I heard a little rumour that he might end up being president of Borussia Dortmund, which would be amazing.

That would be quite the shift from Jurgen Klopp, who has always thrived when working with players on a daily basis.

He previously spent seven years as manager at Borussia Dortmund, leading them to two Bundesliga titles and a Champions League final appearance.

Considering that he has claimed that his next job won't be in management, this would seem like an ideal fit. It will certainly be interesting to see where he ends up next.
