Two thirds of the three amigos were plonked on Chris Kamara's couch for Goals on Sunday (Phil Babb was presumably otherwise engaged) yesterday.
Jason McAteer and Gary Kelly were reminiscing about the great days back in the summer of 2002.
In his first autobiography, Roy Keane said that Cantona played the uncomprehending, enigmatic Frenchman before the English media. This, according to Keane, was partly an act. He stressed that, behind the scenes, Cantona actually spoke rather good English.
Now, Keane's old sparring partner, Jason McAteer, a man who has Uriah Rennie to thank for his personal safety, is accusing Roy of much the same thing.
Does he play a role? I think he does... well I know he does. He can play it to the media and the public and he has this hard man persona. But he has got a sense of humour and he is funny when he wants to be.
Is he softer in the dressing room? Very much so. He will get annoyed, but he'd be a lot softer than you'd think.
In the 'Goals on Sunday' extras youtube video, McAteer and Kelly reminisced more generally about the tournament.
McAteer even confessed to the thought of facing Brazil in the semis, which he believed wasn't out of reach for the Irish side.
After the Germany game we were actually working out how far we were going to go and we pinpointed Brazil in the semis and thought "Could we do this?"
McAteer lamented the loss against Spain in the round of 16 mentioning that the Spanish side were there for the taking.
They were a good side, and to be honest we should have won the match, we missed a penalty in the game and that was crucial.
The pair were also full of praise for Damien Duff and Robbie Keane, describing them as the best players in the side despite their young age.
