There are few things that can be relied upon in modern football the way a Garth Crooks team selection can be relied upon to baffle anyone who reads it.
Before we continue, we must point out that this year's Garth Crooks team of the season is easily the least outrageous team he has put together in comparison to some of these wild efforts, mainly because the formation makes sense, but he has still managed to upset an awful lot of football fans with one notable exclusion and one strange inclusion.
Jamie Vardy's incredible season was overlooked in favour of Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane, while Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho makes the cut ahead of Dele Alli and Mesut Ozil...
Here is his team in full:
The back four is fair enough, although Bertrand and Simpson are both questionable, and Kante and Payet simply had to be in, but has Coutinho really been the best attacking midfielder in the league this year?
He's clearly a top player (or top top player if you're a Sky Sports pundit) and has scored some fantastic goals, but there are surely more deserving players ahead of him for that role.
Regardless, it's Garth's team and he's happy with it. One thing is for sure, and that is that Olivier Giroud was (rightly) never in the discussion, and instead got his own personal review on Sunday:
Garth Crooks clearly a little sensitive after Tottenham bottled second place to Arsenal ? https://t.co/KzYP7GuCnD
