The abject performance was there for all to see. You might be Gareth Bale's biggest fan but there's no denying he was far from his best against Juventus. As tends to happen when a player underperforms, Roy Keane was front and centre when it came to criticising the Welshman.
Speaking on ITV, Keane let rip at the winger's performance saying that Bale gave Madrid 'absolutely nothing' and that it is very difficult 'when you’re playing with 10 men'. The predictably negative stats for Bale have been doing the rounds today and they do seem to back up Keane's claims.
However, Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, has since spoken to BBC Sport and rubbished criticism of his client while directly a thinly veiled dig at Keane.
Why should we take any notice of comments from people who don't know what they are talking about - and from people who have failed in management.
This is only an issue in England. Gareth is at the biggest club in the world. He is one of the best players in the world. He is fine. He only listens to relevant comments. He is 100% focussed on Real Madrid.
We're going to assume Roy Keane won't be too bothered that he's upset Bale's agent, even if he won't like the failed manager dig.
