Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has been speaking to AS in Spain about how great his client is generally and dropped one or two revelations about Bale's world record move to Real Madrid in August 2013.
Just before Bale finally completed his protracted Daniel Levy delayed transfer to the Spanish capital, it was rumored that Manchester United were trying to hijack the move with a bid of their own and now we have confirmation that David Moyes came close to managing Bale. Barnett said:
He always wanted to play for Madrid. He could have gone to United and other clubs, but he wanted to Madrid."
So did United offer more money?
"Not much more, but more.
"I know that at one time Barcelona were also interested in him, but he said he did not want to go there. There were two agents who called me..."
Barnett went on to say he fully expects Bale to win the Balon D'or at Madrid and made the claim that Bale is more widely known in the world than one Neymar.
Whatever about that, Isco is better than both of them.
