Gareth Bale went off injured late in Spurs Europa League quarter-final first leg tie against Basel tonight. While challenging for the ball near the sideline with a Basel player, Bale turned over on his right ankle. He was taken off the pitch on a stretcher.
Bale being out for any significant period of time would be a serious blow to Spurs ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League along with their chances of winning this season's Europa League
Spurs and Basel drew tonight's game 2-2 with Spurs coming back from a 2-0 deficit through goals from Adebayor and Sigurdsson.
In White Hart Lane tunnel. #THFC press officer has told me "It's only just happened, he'll need to have a scan before we know for sure....

AVB on #Bale. "He rolled on his ankle, at the moment there is a lot of pain, but hopefully not as bad as it could have been."

Feeling in the tunnel here at White Hart Lane is that Gareth Bale's injury is very similar to an ankle injury he suffered before.
