Some Galatasaray fans were so fervent in their need to see their team's Champions League tie against Schalke last night that they attempted to burrow into the Veltins-Arena, using only their bare hands.

Only 2,700 tickets were allocated to Galatasaray supporters and tickets were being sold for as much as €1,000 outside the ground. So some desperate fans began digging the frozen soil in an attempt to get into the stadium underneath a fence.

Schakle sporting director, Horst Heldt, confirmed "Some supporters have tried to dig a tunnel with their bare hands."

If only they had the ingenuity to bring something as simple as a shovel then maybe, just maybe, they would've stood and outside chance of seeing Galatasaray's 3-2 and progress to the next round.
