It's no secret that Jeff Stelling's heart and soul is with Hartlepool United. Over the years we've seen some quality moments of Jeff celebrating goals from his side while presenting Soccer Saturday.
Sadly for the veteran broadcaster, it looks likely that his beloved Hartlepool will drop out of the Football League again this season. Last night, the Class of 92's Salford City beat Hartlepool United 2-0, leaving the Bantams in 23rd place in League Two, three points adrift of safety with just three games remaining.
Salford City's win has now put them into the playoff places and League One football is now a real possibility for the club transformed by Gary Neville and co.
According to Sky Sports, 2,139 people attended the game at Moor Lane.
Jeff Stelling calls out Salford support
Late last night, following his team's defeat, Jeff Stelling took to Twitter to blast the Salford City support, as just under a quarter of fans in attendance had made the 125 mile trip from Hartlepool.
Did someone forget to tell fans of @SalfordCityFC there was a game ? 2,139 - 500 of those from @Official_HUFC ! Some may say they are an artificially created club. After all @officialbantams get 20000. And yes I know we will probably get relegated, but support your team ffs !

It didn't take long for Salford fans and one of their owners to bite back, with many suggesting that Stelling should ease of the late night drinks and head to bed.
I will . Shame all your lot appeared to have gone to bed before 7.45 !!

We’re quite proud to have got to a crowd of 2,139 from an average of 120 and 40 season ticket holders 7/8 years ago in the Evo-Stik North! Hope the head isn’t too woolly when you get up 🍺🍷😂 https://t.co/bdJli927DA

The Class of 92's investment in Salford City has worked wonders for the club and a strong finish to the season could see them operating in the third tier of English football next season.
Salford has been ridiculed in the past for their investment and often for throwing money at problems in hope for a speedy rise up the footballing pyramid.
Stelling likely doesn't have any personal issue with the club and the fact that he's now seeing his boyhood club on the brink of relegation, the Soccer Saturday presenter would undoubtedly love investment like Salford have got, into his own club.
