There was massive confusion at a recent international friendly between Malta and Slovakia. While the Maltese team were getting ready to belt out their country's song, they were stopped in their tracks when the opening bar of Numb by Nu Metal pioneers Linkin Park blasted out over the stadium's PA system.

As you can see from the clip, the Malta players saw the funny side of their national anthem being confused with a Nu Metal anthem. The mistake was quickly corrected and the Maltese Hymn was eventually played.

The incident did not faze one member of the team. The captain with an unusually Cork-sounding accent, attempted to fire up his players with a typical encouraging war cry. Malta ultimately lost the game 1-0, but at least they can blame the song-writing stylings of Chester Bennington for distracting their focus before the game.
