Traffic came to a virtual standstill on Dublin's O'Connell just over an hour following France's World Cup final win against Croatia on Sunday.

The reason: Euphoric French supporters celebrating their side's first World Cup in 20 years.

It eventually took the intervention of Gardaí before taxis and buses could pass.

Large crowds also gathered on O'Connell bridge with both French and Croatian flags present.
