When faced with a horde of Irish fans in Bordeaux in the early hours of Saturday morning, French police had little choice but to sit it out until the party ended.
It went on far longer than they thought. Eventually one police officer - as others simply stood there filming Irish fans - thought the best way to get a message through to supporters would be in chant form.
They heard the message but didn't heed it.
Go home for the French police.
